Prior to joining Child and Youth Finance International as Managing Director, Wessel worked for the World Economic Forum in New York and in Geneva. As head of Process, Quality and Innovation, he led the design and implementation of a program to increase the outcomes and overall impact of the Forum’s Network of Global Agenda Councils, the world’s foremost knowledge network of 1.600 international experts dedicated to promoting innovative thinking on a wide range of critical global, regional and industry issues.After his masters degree in Public Administration from Erasmus University in Rotterdam he worked for the Dutch government for several years. He then moved to the private sector working for PwC and several other consultancy firms in the Netherlands where he managed complex projects for national and international public and private sector clients.His work at Child and Youth Finance (CYFI) focuses on empowering all children and youth around the world, particularly those who are vulnerable and marginalized, through an enhancement of their economic citizenship. This entails increasing their financial capability, improving their awareness of social and economic rights and their access to appropriate financial services in order to build their assets and invest in their own futures.CYFI’sYe! Community is an entrepreneurship platform that provides an online community and support to young entrepreneurs between the ages of 16 and 30. Ye! Community connects young entrepreneurs around the world and links them to various tools, resources and opportunities to support the growth of their enterprises. On a systems change level, Ye! collaborates with national authorities to create a “youth entrepreneurial friendly landscape”.
